About the Event
A Green Dot Bystander Training is an opportunity to think about safe and realistic ways that each of us can do little actions to help our community become and stay safe. For instance, if you are a shy person, it will be a chance for you to come up with ways to react to moments of harm (red dots) that keep that in mind - maybe you can ask someone who knows the people involved better for help, maybe you can cause a distraction. This is a fun way to practice some of these skills in a low pressure environment so when you are in a situation where you may come across a red dot (moment of harm that sparks your suspicion) "in the real world", you have thought through ways to react that don’t just ignore it, but also make sense for who you are. The training is free with a meal included, so there’s no reason attending can't be the first Green Dot (behavior to prevent red dots) you do to help end violence in Valley City.
